Submit Designs for Reusable Grocery Bags
March 28, 2023The Pagosa Springs Arts Council is pleased to invite all local and regional artists to submit their work for the next installation of Pagosa Springs Medical Center’s (PSMC) rotating art wall. Artists’ works will hang on the art wall in the new addition, where visitors and patients can view and purchase pieces. PSMC provides a locking hanging system and insurance. PSAC supervises all installations. Artists are required to sign an agreement holding PSAC and PSMCF harmless.
Art submissions need not be limited to any one theme or style. We are happy to accept both contemporary works as well as traditional pieces. Buyers will contact the artist directly to purchase art. Please note that all pieces, sold and unsold, must remain on the art wall until the next installation in the summer. While PSAC is not charging a submission fee, artists are asked to consider donating a percentage of their PSMCF art wall sales proceeds to Pagosa Springs Arts Council. All art that is presently hanging needs to be picked up on November 13, 2023.
IMPORTANT DETAILS
• Hang location: Artist Wall in new addition of the Pagosa Springs Medical Center.
• Cost to submit: None
• All styles accepted, as long as they meet the submission criteria.
• All mediums, including photography, are acceptable.
• Submissions of fabric, tapestry, or works that are not painted or photographed, must be encased in glass or acrylic to meet cleaning and health requirements.
• Submissions must not include photographs or paintings of culturally offensive subject matter, weapons, and excessive amounts of red, which may be deemed offensive or not in keeping with a healing environment. In a medical center, people often are stressed and dealing with trauma. Red can remind a person of blood.
• Art must be suitable for family viewing.
• Art must be wired for hanging; no saw teeth.
• A maximum of three (3) pieces may be submitted.
• A maximum of two (2) paintings per artist will be selected for the installation.
• Based on the size of your submission, we may be able to select only one piece, as space is limited. Size limitations are:
o If presenting one piece of work, maximum size is limited to 60” X 48”.
o If presenting two pieces of work, each piece may not exceed 30” X 24”.
• Artists may submit works they wish to display only.
• If art is not framed, it must be gallery wrapped.
• PSAC has the right to reject any art that does not fit these parameters.
HOW TO SUBMIT
• Email digital submissions of up to three pieces in “jpg” or jpeg” format to: [email protected]
• Use the byline ‘Call to Artist Submission’ in the email subject line.
• Name each of your file submissions with the name of your piece and your name.
• Within the submission’s email text, list each piece separately as follows: Artist last name, artist first name, title of piece, medium, size and retail price.
• Include your name, address and phone contact within the message.
